Hungarian Palacsinta Recipe

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (plus extra for frying)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

For filling/topping (optional):

  • Powdered sugar
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Jam, Nutella, or sweet cheese filling

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the batter:
    In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, salt, oil, and vanilla.
    Gradually add the flour and mix until smooth. The batter should be thin and slightly runny.
  2. Rest the batter (optional but recommended):
    Let it rest for about 20–30 minutes.
  3. Cook the crepes:
    Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
    Pour a small ladle of batter into the pan and swirl it around to form a thin layer.
    Cook for about 1–2 minutes until the edges lift slightly, then flip and cook the other side for about 1 minute.
  4. Fill and roll:
    Spread your desired filling (jam, chocolate, etc.) over the crepe.
    Roll it up tightly.
  5. Serve:
    Dust with powdered sugar and top with whipped cream and fresh strawberries like in the picture.
