Túrós Lepény 🇭🇺

Ingredients

Crust:

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2–3 tablespoons cold water

Filling:

  • 2 cups (500 g) quark or farmer’s cheese
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons semolina (optional, for thicker filling)

Topping (optional):

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) pie pan.
  2. Make crust: Combine flour, sugar, and butter until crumbly. Add egg yolk and cold water, mix into dough. Press into prepared pan and set aside.
  3. Prepare filling: In a bowl, mix cheese, sugar, egg, vanilla, lemon zest, and semolina until smooth.
  4. Pour filling over crust and smooth the top.
  5. Bake 35–40 minutes until filling is set and lightly golden.
  6. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
