Ingredients
- 500 g (3 cups) green peas (fresh or frozen)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 250 ml (1 cup) milk
- 2–3 tablespoons sour cream
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and white pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt butter with oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.
- Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a light roux (do not brown).
- Gradually whisk in milk to create a smooth sauce. Cook until slightly thickened.
- Add peas, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–10 minutes (until peas are tender).
- Stir in sour cream and cook for 1–2 more minutes.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
Serve warm as a side dish with fried meat, schnitzel, or roasted chicken.
