Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup butter or lard, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 packet (7 g) dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ cup warm milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- ½ cup grated cheese (optional, for topping)
Directions
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Rub in butter or lard until crumbly.
- Add sour cream and yeast mixture. Knead into a soft dough. Let rise 45–60 minutes.
- Roll dough to ¾-inch thickness. Cut into small rounds using a biscuit cutter.
- Place on a lined baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with cheese if desired.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
