📝 Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Filling:

  • 3/4 cup (200 g) fruit jam (apricot is classic)
  • 1 cup (100 g) ground walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

For Topping:

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan or springform with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Dough
    Mix flour, sugar, butter, egg, baking powder, and vanilla to form a smooth dough.
    Reserve about 1/3 of the dough for the lattice topping.
  3. Assemble Base
    Press remaining dough into the bottom of the pan.
    Spread jam evenly over the dough.
    Sprinkle ground walnuts mixed with sugar and cinnamon on top.
  4. Lattice Topping
    Roll out reserved dough and cut into thin strips.
    Arrange strips in a crisscross (lattice) pattern over the filling.
    Brush with beaten egg.
  5. Bake
    Bake 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Cool & Serve
    Let cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and cut into squares or slices.
