Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (100g) sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons yeast (instant)
- ½ cup (120ml) milk, warm
- ½ cup (115g) butter, melted
- 2 eggs
For the Walnut Filling:
- 2 cups (200g) ground walnuts
- ½ cup (100g) sugar
- ½ cup (120ml) milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
For Topping:
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
Mix warm milk with yeast and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.
Combine flour, sugar, salt, eggs, and butter. Add yeast mixture and knead into a smooth dough. Let rise 1–1½ hours until doubled. - Prepare the Walnut Filling:
Mix ground walnuts, sugar, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon to form a spreadable paste. - Assemble the Roll:
Roll dough into a rectangle (~12×18 inches). Spread walnut filling evenly, leaving a 1-inch border.
Roll tightly from the long side into a log. Seal edges. - Bake:
Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg.
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Bake 35–40 minutes until golden brown. - Cool & Serve:
Cool completely before slicing. Optional: dust with powdered sugar.
