Ingredients
Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
Walnut Filling:
- 1 cup ground walnuts
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
Topping:
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Directions
- Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Chill 30 minutes.
- Mix walnuts, sugar, milk, vanilla, and lemon zest into a paste.
- Roll dough into rectangles, spread walnut filling, roll into logs, seal edges.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush logs with egg. Bake 20–25 minutes.
- Cool, slice into ½-inch pieces, dust with powdered sugar.
