  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3โ€“4 bell peppers (red, yellow, or green), sliced
  • 4 medium tomatoes, chopped (or 1 cup canned tomatoes)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Hungarian sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ยฝ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: ยฝ lb (250g) Hungarian sausage (kolbรกsz), sliced

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan or pot over medium heat. Sautรฉ onion until soft.
  2. Add bell peppers and cook 5โ€“7 minutes until slightly tender.
  3. Stir in garlic and paprika, cook 1 minute.
  4. Add tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Cover and simmer 15โ€“20 minutes until peppers are soft and flavors meld.
  6. If using sausage, add slices during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
