🛒 Ingredients
- 6–8 large bell peppers
- 1 lb (450g) ground pork (or pork & beef mix)
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2–3 cups tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
- 1–2 tbsp oil or lard
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
- Sour cream (optional, for serving)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Peppers
Wash peppers, cut off tops, and remove seeds carefully.
2️⃣ Make the Filling
In a bowl, mix ground meat, cooked rice, onion, egg, paprika, salt, and pepper.
3️⃣ Stuff the Peppers
Fill each pepper with the meat mixture. Do not overpack.
4️⃣ Cook in Tomato Sauce
Heat oil in a large pot and pour a little tomato sauce at the bottom.
Place stuffed peppers upright in the pot.
Pour remaining tomato sauce over them.
Add sugar if desired to balance acidity.
Cover and simmer on low for 40–50 minutes until fully cooked.
5️⃣ Serve
Spoon extra sauce over peppers and add a dollop of sour cream if desired.
